Sophia is the Founder and Managing Partner of SK LAI & PARTNERS, brings over 10 years of experience in providing offshore legal and business services globally. Specializing in cross-border business & investments solutions, corporate secretarial, and wealth management planning, Sophia has established herself as a trusted advisor to high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) and multinational corporations. As an offshore lawyer, Sophia’s areas of interest include corporate and commercial law, tax planning structures, offshore businesses set up and compliance advisory. She is also a registered company secretary under the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM).


With a LL.B (Hons) Degree from the University of London and a Certificate of Legal Practice (C.L.P) from the Legal Profession Qualifying Board of Malaysia, Sophia was admitted as the Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2016. Her legal journey began at Messrs S. N. Nair & Partners, where she honed her skills under the guidance of prominent lawyer Datuk Sankara Narayanan Nair.


Sophia’s experience extends beyond legal practice; she has also held key positions in multinational companies, gaining invaluable insights into offshore business practices. Sophia played a pivotal role in promoting Labuan’s jurisdiction and facilitating offshore investments through in charge of portfolios at Labuan International Business and Financial Centre (LIBFC), the official promotion and marketing agency for Labuan jurisdiction.


In her role as a Consultant, Legal Director, and Member of the Governance, Risk, and Compliance Advisory Panel at QX Group, Sophia practises Labuan laws since 2013 and provides strategic guidance on legal and compliance matters. Additionally, she leads the firm’s civil litigation and property law matters, ensuring clients receive comprehensive legal solutions.
